I've been doing a lot more DIY lately and when I saw a recipe on Pinterest for a natural linen/fabric spray, I knew it was one I wanted to try out!
The recipe is pretty simple. Take a 4 ounce amber spray bottle (like this one) and add 4 Tablespoons of alcohol and add 6 drops EACH of these essential oils: lemon, peppermint, tea tree, eucalyptus, and lavender. Let the oils sit in the alcohol alone for a good 15 minutes or so. Then, add 4 Tablespoons of distilled or filtered water and SHAKE it up!
That's it! Mine smelled a lot like the alcohol at first, but the next day, that smell has diminished and now it just smells like an amazing spa-like spray. Like I said in the video, I use it for my bed, but you could use it on pretty much anything. Of course, you want to test out a small spot on fabrics first, just to be sure it doesn't mess it up.
I am SO glad I tried this recipe! I love the fresh smell and once you buy the bottle (for around $5 each on Amazon), this is really cheap to make. The bottle of alcohol was around $2 and I only used 2 ounces of it, o about $0.13 of alcohol and the essential oils are too hard to figure out the math! 🙂 Since the 15ml bottles generally have about 300+ drops per bottle, it was literally pennies to make this.
Have you ever tried making your own fabric spray? Let me know what essential oils you used! I prefer to use these USDA certified organic essential oils.
